The Chancellorship of Gloucester Diocese was granted by Patent in 1627 to FRANCIS and Dr.Will Sutton jointly & severally but articles were exhibited against Dr. Sutton in the High Commission Court and he was deprived, so FRANCIS Baber remained Chancellor in 1631. Among the Rawlinson M.S.S. in the Bodleian are ‘Collections of FRANCIS Baber, D.C.L. of Trinity College, Oxford. Chancellor of the Diocese of Gloucester’

1639         Apr 3 ANNE infant daughter of FRANCIS Baber, buried Gloucester Cathedral

Here rests the honourable FRANCIS BABER, born out of the ancient family of Baber in Somerset Chancellor of Gloucester for 39 years who carried out his duties with praiseworthy effort his deeds in every way serving the parish.
